Intellect allows you to select the video image processing mode prior to displaying it using the video card resources and DirectX libraries.
The video image processing improvs
Overlay is used for image processing using the Direct X video card and libraries, before it is displayed.
Overlay allows improving the image due to optimization of the pixel color settings. At the same time, the CPU’s load is reduced, as the video image is processed with the resources of the video card.
There are three overlay display modes in INTELLECT™ software:
Direct3D. In this mode, more modern, but less stable Windows graphics libraries are used. The mode is used when it is necessary to display the video from Fisheye cameras or the signal decoded using Intel QuickSync technology. This mode is also used if the DirectDraw mode is not supported by a video card.
Info title Note The Direct3D mode will be enabled automatically when its usage is specifically necessary to display the video, for example, if there is a Fisheye camera on the layout. The manual modes selection is available for the cases when there are display problems, and it is necessary to swith modes manually.
- DirectDraw (recommended). In this mode, more stable Windows graphics libraries are used. Currently, the DirectDraw and Direct3D features are about the same. This mode is used by default if Direct3D is not specifically required to display the video (see the note above).
- Programmed Method1.Video signals from cameras are processed as a single video stream. This mode has the following features:In this mode repositioning(using the mouse)of the Viewing tile is not available. So if this mode is in use, then the Allow moving checkbox stays unchecked on the Monitor settings panel.
- In this mode the layout displaying 6 viewing tiles is unavailable.
- Method2 (Recommended). Video signals from cameras are processed independently from each other.
- None. Video signals from cameras are not processed by a video capture card.
As a rule, the Method2 is DirectDraw is the optimal display mode for overlay operation. This mode is supported by the most of video capture cards. If a video capture card doesn’t support the chosen overlay mode, then a video signal is displayed with a big slowing-down.

| For For correct overlay display mode operation in INTELLECT™ software, installed as a Server, set the 0 value for the NoDesktop text parameter in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer registry section. This parameter is for displaying icons on the user desktop. |
To select an overlay a display mode, do the following:
- Got to the settings panel for the Monitor interface object.
Select the required overlay display mode in the Overlay Display drop-down list in the Basic settings tab (1).
Info title Note. There is a description of the selected overlay display mode in the field below the Display drop-down list (2). - To save all the changes, click the Apply button (3).
The overlay display mode is now selected.
