Axxon PSIM creates and stores video archive in its own format. You can view the archive files without converting in the Video surveillance window, using the converter.exe utility or using the AxxonPlayer AxxonPSIM player utility when you select the required time period.

You can also export the video archive into other formats. For this, you can use the above instruments as well as the AviExport utility. See also Export and print out.

The codec in which the archive is recorded is by default determined by the codec of the original video signal see Compressing and decompressing a video signal. You can also record the archive in the MPEG4 format regardless of the codec of the original video signal. For this, create and configure the MPEG4 Encoder object.

  1. Pre-alarm event is recorded before the start time of the alarm event recording on the video camera. Pre-alarm event recording allows you to analyze the prehistory of the alarm event.

For the cameras without video compression that were added to the corresponding list in the Video subsystem section in the tweaki.exe utility (see The Settings settings panel of the Video subsystem section), video is not recorded in Pre-alarm record mode.

  2. Post-alarm event is recorded after the end time of the alarm event recording on the video camera. Post-alarm event recording allows you to analyze the consequences of the alarm events.
  3. Hot recording is a video recording segment with higher frame rate. Increased frame rate on the hot recording segment makes event analysis more effective. The hot recording segment always starts from the start time of the alarm event registration. The hot recording is finished at the recording end time (depending on the hot recording settings).
