When you select the Server object on the Archive tab, the following information is displayed:

SectionFieldDescription
Server archives allocationArchives GBDisplays the percentage of used space of created archive volumes
Disks size GBDisplays the total amount of disk space in the system, including both used and free space on all available disks
Available GBDisplays the amount of free space on a disk
Partitions information Disk

The section displays:

  • a list of available disks,
  • a total used disks space,
  • a total free disks space,
  • a total size of each disk,
  • used disk space,
  • free disk space
Default archivesCameraSpecifies the archiving settings for the cameras in the system. The section specifies which cameras are used by default to create archives, and sets the parameters for storing and managing the data received from these cameras

You can calculate the percentage of space occupied by archives from the free space on disks using the formula: A/(A+D)*100%=P%,

where:

  • A is the total volume of all created archives,
  • D is the amount of free space on a disk,
  • P is the percentage of space occupied by archives from the free space on disks.

You can store an archive on the following disks:

Type of archiveFeatures of archive storageRestrictions on archive volumesConfiguration features
LocalArchive can be stored on several logical disks of the serverOn one logical disk for one archive, you can create only one archive volume, which occupies either a file of a set size or the entire partition (logical disk)
  • Archive can contain several volumes that can be in the form of a file or a partition.
  • Archive can either have a block or object storage type
RemoteArchive can be stored in several remote storagesArchive can be stored only as a file of a specified sizeArchive can either have a block or object storage type
CloudArchive can be stored in one cloud storageArchive can contain several volumes of unlimited size. You can change the size of the archive without restarting ngp

You can create an archive based on the following solutions (see General information about a cloud archive):

  1. Amazon S3.
  2. Microsoft Azure.
  3. Wasabi.
  4. Huawei Cloud.
  5. Seagate Lyve Cloud.

  • When you create an archive with block or object storage type as a file, note that the disk must not be completely full. For the correct operation of the system, it is necessary to leave some space free. General recommendations for arranging free space:
    Info
    titleNote

When you create a local archive with block storage type as a partition (logical disk), the disk can be filled completely.

    • If archive size is less than 1 TB, you need about 100 MB of free space.
    • If archive size is between 1 TB and 10 TB, you need about 1 GB of free space.
    • If archive size is larger than 10 TB, you need about 10 GB of free space.
  • For archives with object storage type, we do not recommend placing archive volumes or archives on the same physical device. If placing several archives on one physical disk is unavoidable, free space must be N times larger than the volume of all archives (N is the number of archives). We recommend splitting the archive into several volumes and placing them on different physical devices to improve the reliability and performance of storage.
  • We recommend creating archive volumes of no more than 30 TB each.

Error creating new archives even when license restriction on total capacity is observed

If the user creates archives at the same time (in other words, without applying changes) while deleting some existing archives, creation of the archives can be forbidden even if the total archive capacity does not exceed the amount of the license restriction.

Info
titleNote

This happens because when verifying the license restrictions, the size of created archives is calculated based on the total capacity at the time when changes were applied.

In such a situation, the user must first delete the unnecessary archives and apply changes, then create new archives.
