In small companies or with limited staff, one employee can combine both roles.

The administrator performs the following tasks:

  • Modernization, configuration, and monitoring of the performance of a complex of technical means of the security system (cameras, servers, network hardware, data storage systems).
  • Installation, updating, configuration, and monitoring of the system and basic software (operating system, drivers, DBMS, and virtualization components).

titleNote

The structure of Axxon One allows for both centralization of management of all functionality in the hands of a single administrator and division of responsibility among several specialists (for example, a network administrator, a DBMS administrator, and a video surveillance system administrator).

Responsibilities of a security system operator

The operator performs the following tasks:

  • Working with the Axxon One graphical interface: viewing video archives, controlling cameras, configuring detectors, and processing alarm events.
  • Optimization of computer operation for effective solution of assigned tasks using the functionality of Axxon One.
  • Creation of roles and users in the system (provided that the operator has been given the appropriate permissions by the administrator).

Requirements for operator qualification

The operator must have:

  • Experience with computers running on the Windows OS and the Linux OS.
  • Level of expertise of at least "qualified user."
  • Proficiency in basic operations: starting and closing applications, working with the file system, configuring network settings, and using peripheral devices

The following roles have been defined for operating the Axxon One software package:

  1. Security system administrator.
  2. Security system operator.

In special cases, one person can perform the functions of both the administrator and the operator.

The main duties of the administrator are to:

  1. Update, configure, and monitor the operability of the security system’s hardware.
  2. Install, update, configure, and monitor the operability of basic and system software.
  3. Install, configure, and monitor software applications.
  4. Manage user accounts (this duty can be carried out by a user entrusted with system administrator permissions).

The administrator must have the skills necessary for network configuration, including routing and firewall, as well as NetBIOS, DNS, and NTP network services.

Besides, the administrator must have high qualifications and practical experience installing, configuring, and administering the software and hardware employed in the software package.

The software package is structured so that all accessible functionality can be managed by one administrator or administration responsibilities can be divided among several users.

The main duties of an operator are to:

  1. Work with the software’s GUI (graphical user interface).
  2. Optimize the performance of the personal computer to carry out tasks using the functionality provided in the software package.
  3. Create roles and users in the system (if the user has been granted the appropriate permissions).
