General information

Bookmarks created by the operator during or after an event allow for a more detailed view of what is happening at the protected facility. When you view the archive, bookmarks are displayed on the timeline as special marks (see The Timeline). Users with the appropriate access level settings in the Working with bookmarks parameter can create, edit, and delete bookmarks (see Roles).

Attention!

When you create a bookmark for the first time, the dialog window opens in the minimal mode. Next time you create a bookmark, the configuration dialog window containing the previously selected settings opens.

Create a bookmark

You can create a bookmark in two ways:

  1. The standard method involves creating a bookmark in the archive mode. To do this:
    1. Open the required layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).

    2. Go to the archive mode (see Switching to the Archive mode).

    3. Click the Timeline panel button.

    4. Select the bookmark interval on the timeline:

      1. Place the timeline pointer at the beginning of the interval.
      2. Click the button.
      3. Scroll the timeline and place the pointer at the end of the interval.
      4. Click the button.
    5. Click the button.
    6. In the window that opens, click Add bookmark.

    7. A window opens in which you must set the bookmark parameters specified in the table:

      Specify the date and time interval for which you want to create a bookmark

      Attention!

      • When you create a quick bookmark, the date and time are selected from the moment of the freeze frame in the surveillance window.
      • When you change the time range in the timeline or in the advanced navigation panel, the date and time values are updated automatically in the opened dialog window.
      To

      Selected cameras

      [Short camera name].[Camera name]

      Select a specific camera or all cameras of the current layout. You can also add cameras from a different layout, the bookmark will automatically appear on them.

      Attention!

      • When you create a bookmark for the selected camera, you cannot deselect the camera.
      • To select all cameras of the current layout, click the All from current layout button.

      Category


      From the drop-down list, select one or more bookmark categories. Categories are used to group bookmarks by themes. You can create a category on the Options tab. When you select a category, specifying a comment is optional

      Comment


      Enter a comment if necessary. The visible field contains four lines

      Note

      If the comment contains many characters, the expanded bookmark will occupy no more than 80% of the surveillance window space.

      If necessary, select an area of interest on the frame. To do this:

      1. Click the corresponding button (see the Value column).
      2. Click any place on the frame. The selected element is displayed.
      3. Move the element to the required area of ​​the frame. To do this, left-click the element and move the cursor without releasing it.
      4. Set the size of the element by stretching the anchor points.

      With the help of an elliptical and rectangular mask area, you can hide certain parts of the image. This ensures confidentiality and protection of personal data

      Note

      • You cannot set a mask area in real time (see Switching to Live mode).
      • For a single bookmark, you can set either an area of ​​interest or a mask area.
      • The mask area is displayed only in the main client. In the Web client and mobile client, there is no mask area on the video image.
      • Only the users in the role settings of which the Yes value is set for the Show mask video in archive parameter can hide the masked area when viewing and exporting the archive (see Roles).

      Saved positions

      You can set several positions on different frames to display the same bookmark. To do this, go to another frame, move the element on it to the required area, and click the Add button.
      To delete a position, click . As a result, one bookmark is displayed for all added positions

      Protect archive from deletion

      By default, an archive isn't protected from deletion (the checkbox is cleared). If you need to have mandatory archive protection from deletion, set the checkbox. During archive FIFO overwriting, the protected bookmark isn’t deleted (see Configuring recording to an archive)

      Attention!

      Protection of archive from deletion is available only for object archives.

      Indefinitely

      Select Indefinitely or For +- days. By default, the bookmark storage period is 30 days. If necessary, you can change it. The maximum storage period is 1095 days

      Attention!

      The option buttons are available for selection only if the Protect archive from deletion checkbox is set.


      For +- days

      Confidential bookmark

      By default, the bookmark doesn't have confidential protection (the checkbox is clear). If you want to make the bookmark confidential, set the checkbox


    8. Click the Save button.
  2. You can create a quick bookmark at any time. To do this:
    1. Open the required layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. Click the button in the camera surveillance window.
    3. A window opens in which you must set the bookmark parameters specified in the table:

View bookmarks

The bookmark list provides convenient access to previously created bookmarks. To view all created bookmarks:

  1. Open the required layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
  2. On the top panel of the layout next to the Video/Archive buttons, click the button.

You can also go to the bookmark list from the surveillance window in the archive mode. To do this:

  1. Open the required layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
  2. Go to the archive mode of a camera that already has a created bookmark (see Switching to the Archive mode).
  3. Click the button next to the selected bookmark.
  4. In the window that opens, click Bookmark list.

A list of all created bookmarks opens:

You can set the time range for searching bookmarks. To do this, select The last -+days or Specific date and select the required value. You can also select whether to display bookmarks for all cameras or for specific ones.

By default, bookmarks are sorted by the Start parameter. If necessary, you can sort the bookmarks by:

  • Start,
  • End,
  • Comment,
  • Category,
  • User,
  • Created,
  • Protection expires, which displays:
    • remaining protection period of the bookmark;
    • bookmark unprotected status.
  • Exported, which displays: 
    • bookmark status export, indicating if this bookmark is exported or not;
    • date and time of the last successful bookmark export.

To sort bookmarks by a specific parameter, hover the mouse cursor over the parameter name and click it.

You can also go to the archive mode from the bookmark list. To do this, click the button. A temporary layout opens with all cameras from the selected bookmark, including those that are currently not on any layout. The time in the archive is set to the beginning of the bookmark. A notification appears at the top of the temporary layout to return to the bookmark list.

Note

Temporary layout opens even if the archive fragment with the bookmark is already deleted. The time is set to the beginning of the archive, and the camera surveillance windows display the message No archive record.

To exit the bookmark window, click the button in the upper right corner.

View an archive with operator's bookmarks

When the archive is played back, the operator's bookmarks are displayed in the surveillance window. Bookmarks created in the archive mode display the time range specified by the user on the timeline.

You can collapse the bookmark by clicking the button. When collapsed, only the bookmark comment is visible. The first 16 characters of the comment text are displayed.

To return to the full bookmark, click the button.

Note

The bookmark state (collapsed/expanded) isn't saved and is automatically reset when you go to another layout or when you exit the archive mode.

Edit bookmarks

You can edit a created bookmark using:

  1. Bookmark list. To do this:
    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. On the top panel of the layout next to the Video/Archive buttons, click the button.
    3. In the window that opens, click the button.
    4. A bookmark editing window opens in which you can change the necessary parameters:
      1. Time period.

      2. Required cameras.

      3. Category.

      4. Comment.

      5. Bookmark confidentiality.

    5. Click the Save button.
  2. Surveillance windows in the archive mode. To do this:
    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).

    2. Go to the archive mode of a camera that already has a created bookmark.

    3. Click the button.
    4. In the window that opens, click Edit.
    5. A bookmark editing window opens in which you can change the necessary parameters:
      1. Time period.

      2. Required cameras.

      3. Category.

      4. Comment.

      5. Selected area.

      6. Archive protection from deletion.

      7. Bookmark confidentiality.

    6. Click the Save button.

Note

The User and Created fields display the bookmark creator and creation date. You cannot edit these fields. You can also see a note indicating the remaining protection period for each bookmark.

Bookmark editing is complete.

Bookmark export

Bookmark export allows you to save the required events from a video recording for later analysis.

Attention!

You can export each bookmark separately. In this case, the information is exported according to the selected archive that was active in the camera cell during viewing.

There are two ways to export:

  1. Using the bookmark list. To do this:

    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. On the top panel of the layout next to the Video/Archive buttons, click the button.
    3. In the window that opens, click the button. The export window opens, in which the archive fragment corresponding to the bookmark length is selected.
    4. Set the necessary export parameters.

      Attention!

      • In the export window, you can:
        • add cameras for which there are no bookmarks. This allows you to export a fragment of the archive for the specified period of time;
        • remove cameras.
      • If you don’t select any cameras, the Export button is inactive.

    5. Click the Export button.
  2. Using the surveillance window in the archive mode. To do this:
    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. Go to the archive mode of a camera that already has a created bookmark.

    3. Click the button.
    4. In the window that opens, click Export.
    5. Set the required export parameters.

    6. Click the Export button.

The bookmark export is complete.

Remove bookmarks

You can delete the created bookmarks.

Attention!

When you delete a bookmark, it is completely deleted from the archive and the list of bookmarks, as well as from all the cameras to which it was added. The archive data for the period corresponding to the bookmark is saved.

You can delete created bookmarks using:

  1. Bookmark list. To do this:
    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. On the top panel of the layout next to the Video/Archive buttons, click the button.
    3. In the window that opens, click the button.
    4. Click the Delete button.
  2. Surveillance windows in the archive mode. To do this:
    1. Open the layout (see Selection and Slideshow of Layouts).
    2. Go to the archive mode of a camera that already has a created bookmark.
    3. Click the button.
    4. In the window that opens, click Delete.
    5. Click the Delete button.

Bookmark deletion is complete.
