To ensure the recognition of state license plates with License plate recognition (BRS), it is necessary to install and configure the cameras to meet the following requirements:
| Camera | - Minimum video resolution is 640*480, recommended resolution is 720p or 1080p
- Minimum frame rate is 15 FPS, recommended frame rate is 25–30 FPS
- Autofocus and zoom would be useful for making small adjustments after configuring the detection tool
- Auto white balance
- IR for night mode with good contrast of license plate images
- HDR or WDR
- In order to recognize state license plates on high-speed roads, the camera must have the Global Shutter mode

| Video | - Video image must be clear, contrasting, without distortion, not blurred
- Video image must have minimum noise in low light conditions
- Size of the license plate must be 15–70% of the total size of the image
- License plate must contain no more than two rows of characters

Camera installation | - Video camera must be mounted at 0.6–2.4 meters above the ground
- Angle formed by the lower line of the license plate and the horizon line must be from 0 to 20 degrees
