By default, the operator has access to all tabs of the System settings window. As a result, the operator is automatically granted permissions to administer, manage, and monitor all objects on the tabs.

The permission to use control functions allows the operator to use interface buttons, menu commands, and other interface elements that allow controlling the corresponding objects (cameras, microphones, telemetry, Event viewer, and so on) for which the use of these functions is provided. In addition to the general restriction on object control, you can set a restriction on the execution of individual commands (see Limiting permissions to send commands (reactions)).

The use of monitoring functions is limited to the ability of the operator to view (visually monitor) objects such as user screens, panels of Backup archive, video images coming from cameras, microphone indicators in surveillance windows, and so on.

You can prohibit the operator from administering one or several objects, limit the list of available functions of object control, and also limit monitor capabilities.

Note

If the administrator password isn't set in the system (see Administrator password registration) and the permission to access the required tabs of the System settings window isn't set (see Limiting access to the tabs of the System settings window), then the limitation of the permissions to configure objects in the manner described below won't work.

To limit the operator access to administer, control, and monitor objects of Axxon PSIM, do the following:

  1. In the System settings window, go to the Users tab (1).
  2. In the object tree that is below the User permissions button (2), select the User permissions object corresponding to the operator account and the status of which you want to change.
The settings panel of the User permissions object opens on the right side of the System settings window.
  3. Go to the Objects tab (3). The object tree corresponds to the permissions of the current Axxon PSIM user. In the object tree, to the left of each object, there is a field that you can edit—it indicates the operator’s permissions to administer, control, and monitor system objects. The names of the icons correspond to the names of objects, the administration, control, and monitoring of which can be available to the operator with the appropriate permissions. The correspondence of the icon type to the operator’s permissions is given in the table

    Note

Permissions to administer, control, and monitor objects depend on the permissions to the Computer objects. The permissions to the Computer object have a higher priority. For example, if the user permissions allow the administration of the Display object but prohibit the administration of the Computer object to which this Display is assigned, then a user logged on to the computer won't be able to administer the Display object (see also Assigning the displays to the operator workstations).

  4. After you complete the settings, click the Apply button (4).

When you configure operator permissions, the following keyboard shortcuts are available to control the object tree from the keyboard:
