Updating Axxon PSIM installed as a Service

If you install Axxon PSIM software on a computer where an earlier version is used, then the installation will be is performed in the updating update mode.

Important to know before you update Axxon PSIM:

Before you update, we recommend you back up all databases that you use—see Creating the database backup copy. Also, copy and save the psim.sec license file (located in the root of the Axxon PSIM installation directory, by default: C:\Program Files/PSIM).
Axxon PSIM can be updated if there is a difference in the third digit of the version number and the first two digits are the same. If the first and/or second digits are different, you must reinstall Axxon PSIM instead of updating, that is, uninstall the previous version and install the new one.
Examples:
1. You can update from version 1.0.1 to version 1.0.2.
2. You cannot update from version 1.0.1 to 1.2.0; you need to reinstall.
Before starting the update, you must stop Axxon PSIM if it is running.
You must run the update as a Windows administrator.
When you update Axxon PSIM on the server or remote administrator’s workstation, you must also update Axxon PSIM on the remote client. The compatible versions of Axxon PSIM must be installed on remote clients and on the server/remote administrator’s workstation, that is, the first two digits of the version number must be the same (for example,

Unpack the installation kit as described in Getting ready for Axxon PSIM installation; the . The destination folder will show the contents of the kit.

Run the setup.exe file to start the Axxon PSIM software installation procedureprocess.

Choose the language of Axxon PSIM software installation theInstallation wizard and click the Install button.

Choose the type of installation needed.

To log all installation events, set the Enable full installation log (increases product installation time) checkbox.

The selected prerequisites and drivers will be installed.

During the installation process, you will be prompted to remove the installed vertical solutions. Two options are possible:

If you click the Yes button, the vertical solutions are removed during the update process. In this case, you will need to reinstall them after the update. Installation manuals are available in the documentation for each solution, links are on the main documentation page for Axxon PSIM 1.0.0-1.0.1. You must also take into account the compatibility of versions: General information about product releases and versions compatibility.

If Axxon PSIM is updated to a version whose second and/or third number is larger than that of the currently installed version (for example, from version 1.0.1 to 1.0.2, or 1.1 to 1.2), compatibility is lost with industry-specific vertical solutions built for old versions. This is why, during the installation process, you are asked to remove industry-specific vertical solutions.

To remove industry-specific vertical solutions that are installed on the computer, select Yes. Otherwise, problems can occur when starting Axxon PSIM after

update.

Click the Next button.
The dialog box of window for selecting the type of update is displayedopens.

Select one of the offered suggested types of update. The types of update updates are described in the table below:

Click the Next button.
When the system is configured, installation of Axxon PSIM software starts starts.

Restarting the computer is required to correctly complete the Axxon PSIM installation. If choose not to restart your computer To correctly finish the installation of Axxon PSIM, you must restart the computer. If you don’t choose to restart now, you will need have to do it yourself after installing the installation.
